Hello Bootstrap Nation!
For those who don’t know, we recently teamed up with RI VegFest to help manage food waste at VegFest 2023 (We were even featured in the Boston Globe for our involvement!) In fact, this isn’t the first time we’ve worked with the RI VegFest crew! Last year, we were a proud sponsor at Vegtoberfest, working to divert waste from the event. With over 1,500 people and aro
und 40 vendors, they only filled NINE bags of trash compared to over 200 bags the previous year. Needless to say, we were optimistic about this year’s VegFest 🙂
We are proud to report that we collected 250 gallons of scraps, weighing at just over 400 lbs! Thank you to all the attendees and vendors who eagerly joined in keeping food and other items out of landfills. On the event, our co-founder and COO, Igor Kharitonenkov emphasized the importance of responsible waste management stating “”Compost is the life-giving component that turns dirt into soil,” he says. “By recycling food and yard waste, we do our part in keeping the natural cycles going that power the natural world around us.” In that light, we are thankful for the opportunity to take part in this year’s festival!
Mark your calendars for 5/21! We are a supporting sponsor at the upcoming NE VegFest on Sunday, May 21st. Join us in Worcester where you can learn more about our composting process as well as see it in action as we haul away event waste. Tickets can be purchased here.
